Abstract

Stefano Rodotà teaches that the human body is in constant transformation. In addition to having lost its unity—since it can now be decomposed into parts such as organs, cells, tissues, and so on—it has also undergone a process of dematerialization, characterized by the contrast between the so-called electronic body and the physical body. In other words, he explains that in the Information Age, the body comes to be regarded as a set of data integrated into the information society, which, in turn, gives rise to important discussions concerning its protection and safeguarding in the face of technological advances.
