Abstract
This review examines Direito civil e novas tecnologias, edited by Guilherme Magalhães Martins and Filipe Medon, emphasizing its contribution to the reinterpretation of classical civil law institutions in light of the digitalization of private relations. The collective volume is organized according to the main structural fields of the Brazilian Civil Code, covering General Part, Obligations and Contracts, Civil Liability, Property Law, Family Law, and Succession Law. The review highlights how issues such as artificial intelligence, data protection, algorithmic contracts, blockchain, tokenization, digital goods, neurorights, privacy, digital inheritance, and posthumous image reconstruction challenge traditional categories such as personality, private autonomy, property, attribution, trust, and vulnerability. It also underscores the book’s methodological commitment to the civil-constitutional tradition and its relevance for scholars, professors, and legal professionals interested in the interface between private law and technology. The review concludes that the book offers a significant contribution to the consolidation of a contemporary civil law agenda, oriented toward the protection of human dignity and the functional reconstruction of private law institutions in the digital society.
