Its purpose is to ensure that articles, case law comments, book reviews, and other published content remain accessible over time, even in the face of technological changes, platform updates, technical failures, or possible operational discontinuities.

To strengthen the preservation of its published content, Revista IBERC uses resources compatible with Open Journal Systems (OJS), including the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN), an initiative designed for the digital preservation of scholarly journals hosted on OJS. Through this mechanism, the Journal seeks to ensure the maintenance of preserved copies of its published content, contributing to the protection of its editorial memory and to the continuity of public access to its archive.

Revista IBERC also adopts the LOCKSS system — Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe. This is a digital preservation solution based on the creation of distributed copies of published content, allowing preserved files to be continuously verified and, in the event of loss, corruption, or unavailability, restored from intact copies kept in a preservation environment. This model reinforces the security of the archive and reduces the risks associated with concentrating files in a single storage point.

In addition to distributed preservation mechanisms, Revista IBERC adopts persistent digital identifiers by assigning DOI numbers to its published articles. The use of DOI contributes to the stable identification of scientific texts, facilitates their location in databases, indexers, repositories, and search engines, and supports the traceability of publications even when electronic addresses change, the website is reorganized, or the editorial platform is updated.

Revista IBERC also relies on the technical support of Lepidus for the hosting and maintenance of its editorial environment. This support contributes to platform stability, infrastructure security, maintenance routines, system updates, and the adoption of practices aimed at service continuity. Specialized OJS hosting is an important part of the preservation strategy, as it allows editorial management to be supported by technical assistance compatible with the needs of an electronic scholarly journal.
