Climate disasters and liability insurance
Main Article Content
Abstract
The article presents an analysis of the general aspects of civil liability insurance existing in the Brazilian market, as well as the situations in which such insurance can be triggered in cases of events related to climate disasters or environmental damage. Additionally, hypotheses are analyzed in which the insurance coverage offered by civil liability insurance encounters obstacles, such as the discussion of unforeseeable circumstances (acts of God) and risk exclusion clauses. The objective of this study is to evaluate how civil liability insurance can be impacted by climate disaster events, in order to contribute to debates on the topic given the relevance of the subject today.
